Health Care Proxy

A health care proxy is a legal document that allows you to appoint an agent to make health care decisions in the event that you are incapable of making such decisions. Once the document is executed, you continue to be allowed to make health care decisions as long as you are still competent to do so. You are never too young or old to execute a health care proxy, as you never know when you may become incapacitated and need medical care.
Without a health care proxy, you will not have the power to appoint a person who you trust to make decisions surrounding your medical treatment and life sustaining treatment. Instead, either a guardianship proceeding will have to be commenced or state law will dictate who can make certain medical decisions on your behalf.
It is important to have a health care proxy drafted by an experienced attorney to ensure that you are protected and that your wishes will be honored. Call us 24/7 at 518-218-7100 to guide you through the process.
