Living Will

A living will is a document outlining very specific medical instructions that apply while you are still alive but unable to communicate your wishes. Unlike a will, it doesn’t have anything to do with how you want your property divided when you die. It simply states that you do, or do not, want certain life sustaining treatment such as cardiac resuscitation, mechanical respiration, feeding tubes and antibiotics if you become terminally ill and you are unable to make these decisions for yourself.
A living will also allows you to make decisions regarding whether or not you would like to receive pain medication and other desires. In addition, a living will can indicate special wishes or instructions. For example, some people may want to remain on life support for only a certain period of time.
Our attorneys understand the complexity of creating a living will and are available to assist you with the process so that your wishes will be honored. Call us 24/7 at 518-218-7100.
