Lead Paint

Much along the lines of asbestos is long-time exposure to lead paint. As with asbestos, many older buildings and homes were constructed using paint containing lead. This paint begins deteriorating and flaking off, releasing lead particles in the air that settle on the ground. These particles are usually microscopic and not detectable with the naked eye. Surfaces where friction takes place will release the maximum lead. These could include windows and window sills, doors and door frames, staircases and railings.
While getting the house painted, the old paint is usually scraped off using a variety of methods. No matter what method you use, if the paint on your wall contains lead, the lead will get released into the air and cause lead paint exposure. The same holds true for exterior paint, paint on wood and metal in your home.
In many instances, owners of homes or apartments are aware of lead paint, yet fail to strip it off or just paint over it. The problem is that they do not inform the new owners or tenants that lead paint is present. The Personal Injury lawyers at Tully Rinckey know there are laws in place that require owners who are selling homes to notify the new owners of the presence of lead paint. Our lawyers understand the slow, lurking killer that lead paint represents, and will treat your case with the respect and severity it deserves.
Our Albany personal injury attorneys offer free initial consultations to potential clients, so we can meet and discuss your case in person. If you or a loved one has suffered due to prolonged exposure to Lead Paint, or were not notified of lead paint in your residence, call Tully Rinckey today at 1-888-529-4543 to set up a free meeting to discuss your case.
