Theresa Wells, Esq.
Associate
Theresa’s background includes everything from financial planning to politics, most recently working as senior financial planner for The Ayco Company of Albany, N.Y. Theresa gained an MBA from The College of Saint Rose. She also served as a congressional intern for Congressman Mike McNulty and a legislative assistant to the New York State Assembly.
It appeared Theresa was headed for a life of politics until an epiphany in 2001. Shortly after the World Trade Center attack on September 11th, Theresa realized she wanted to help people in a more personal and predominant way. “I’ve always wanted to practice law and will always remember the attorney who helped my mother through her divorce,” says Wells. Theresa went back to school, graduating from Albany Law School with a concentration in Family and Elder law.
She gained valuable experience both in and out of the court room, serving as a law intern for Schenectady County Family Court judge Jo Anne Assini. Theresa learned first-hand knowledge of what it’s like to be a player in family court.
Theresa graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in International Studies from Russell Sage College of Troy, N.Y. She also studied abroad in at the University of Nice, Nice, France.
Theresa’s other experience includes being a law intern for the Albany Law School Clinic, where she provided legal services for low-income taxpayers in disputes with the Internal Revenue Service. She also worked as a legal aide to the Office of the Attorney General, conducting statistical analysis and investigated consumer complaints.
A native of the Capital Region, Theresa lives with her husband, Brian, in Speigletown, N.Y. In her spare time, she enjoys traveling, interior design, fine arts and visiting museums.
